Today, the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media (COFTM) within the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced that Mile High Hockey: The Year Colorado Won It All has been approved for a Colorado Film Incentive.
Produced by Truce Media LCA, this project tracks beloved color commentator Peter McNabb, cherished by Colorado hockey fans for his insightful commentary and contagious passion. In 2022, amid Peter's battle with cancer, Colorado Hockey thrived as the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup. The documentary highlights McNabb's lasting hockey influence and legacy while also covering a major first in sports: the same year the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup, the University of Denver Pioneers won the NCAA National Championship, the Denver East hockey team won the High School National Championship; and the Junior Aves won the Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey tournament. This is the first time four teams from the same city have accomplished this feat.
The Colorado Economic Development Commission approved a Colorado Film Incentive for Mile High Hockey: The Year Colorado Won It All in August 2023. Per the applicant’s estimations, COFTM) anticipates a total of $113,190 in qualified local expenditures, resulting in a rebate of up to $22,638. With the multiplier effect, the economic impact of the project could surpass $203,000. Julie Jackson, a multi Emmy award winning filmmaker, is directing Mile High Hockey: The Year Colorado Won It All, and Angel Williams is producing.
