The Minority Business Office COVID-19 Emergency Grant was for minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses that completed Minority Business Office programs and needed additional resources to sustain their businesses through the pandemic crisis.
Grant awards ranged from $2,000 to $4,500 per business. Funds were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of one grant was awarded per business.
Applications are closed. This was a one-time grant that closed on June 30, 2020.

Eligible organizations
Businesses must:
- be a Colorado-based, for-profit business
- be 51% minority-, veteran- or woman-owned
- have completed the Leading Edge for International Opportunities (renamed to the Global Trade Activator Program) or Bid Advance Response Program and/or been an awardee of the Governor’s Minority Business Awards
- provide a Certificate of Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State within the last 30 days
- demonstrate ongoing efforts to identify alternate sources of funding or alternative sources of revenue in the last 45 days
- provide a profit and loss statement form from 2019 showing more than $25,000 but no more than $1 million in revenue or sales
- demonstrate financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 crisis
Eligible expenses
Grant funds can be used to pay for:
- payroll, rent, utilities, and miscellaneous overhead expenses
- production and manufacturing expenses
- other expenses occurred as a result of the business needing to stay in operation
A selection panel reviewed applications based on:
- the amount requested
- level of impact COVID-19 had on current business operations
- demonstrated resiliency and innovation
- demonstrated financial need
Grant recipients will be required to provide one narrative report to the Minority Business Office by December 31, 2020.
