National Endowment for Arts announces second round of fiscal year 2020 funding
Denver —The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced that 24 Colorado arts organizations received $3,049,300 in the second round of 2020 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Awards.
“Colorado has a large, diverse and rich arts scene that supports thousands of jobs across the state,”said Margaret Hunt, Director of the Colorado Creative Industries. “As Coloradans work together to restart our economy, these grants play an important role in fueling Colorado’s creative expression and Colorado’s creative economy at a critical time.”
Awards are issued in four major categories:
- ArtWorks
- Art Works II
- Our Town
- State and Regional Partnerships and Research
“These awards demonstrate the continued creativity and excellence of arts projects across America and the nimbleness of our nation’s arts organizations in the face of a national crisis that shuttered their doors for months,” said Mary Anne Carter, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. “By funding arts projects in every U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia, the National Endowment for the Arts again celebrates the opportunity to make the arts available to every corner of the country and to see how the arts can heal and unite us.”
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that arts and cultural production accounts for more than $14.5 billion, or 4.4 percent, of the Colorado economy and supports 103,274 jobs. Colorado ranks No. 1 in the percentage of residents who personally perform or create artworks.
