Juneteenth, also known as Jubilee Day, Freedom Day and Emancipation Day, has long been celebrated in communities across Colorado and commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and declared that more than 250,000 enslaved Black people were free. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation having been issued by President Lincoln on January 1, 1863, many enslavers continued to hold enslaved people captive.

Pride Month rolls around each June to remind us to celebrate the significant accomplishments of LGBTQIA+ individuals and the work we have ahead to support Colorado's LGBTQIA+ communities. According to the 2021 Colorado Health Access Survey, about 7.8% of Coloradans 18 years and older identify as LGBTQIA+. 

Colorado SBDC TechSource: Commercialization Program Kicks Off Virtual Tech Venture Accelerator for Women-Owned Science and Technology Ventures

The Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) TechSource: Commercialization(opens in new window)(opens in new window)(opens in new window)(opens in new window) program has opened applications for its virtual Tech Venture Accelerator for Women (TVX-W). There are eight spots available in this cohort for innovative women-owned science and technology businesses.

The Polis Administration today announced the Cannabis Business Office’s Cannabis Business Pilot Grant, a bold, forward-thinking initiative to save small businesses money, foster a more equitable cannabis industry, and make it easier for Coloradans to thrive in one of the state’s fastest growing industries.

“Colorado’s nation-leading innovations in the cannabis industry are strengthening our economy, advancing diversity, and inclusion, and saving small business owners money,” said Gov. Polis.

The Cannabis Business Office (CBO), housed in the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), announces an exciting partnership with Make Green Go! to implement a technical assistance program for new cannabis ventures.

Today is Colorado Gives Day, one of the largest giving movements in the country. Every December, Coloradans come together for a day to show support for their favorite nonprofits and charities. Since its launch in 2010, Colorado Gives Day has raised over $300 million for nonprofits around the state. DENVER--The Minority Business Office of Colorado will host their second virtual Advance Colorado Procurement Expo on October 7, 2021. 

DENVER, CO – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced it has awarded a disaster declaration in Garfield, Eagle, Mesa, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties as a result of flooding, mudslides, rockslides and associated closures of Glenwood Canyon. Businesses in these counties are eligible to apply for loans through the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program to offset the cost of this disaster on their business.

National Small Business Week is an annual opportunity to celebrate small businesses, access resources and network with peers. Started by the Small Business Administration (SBA), the celebration this year will be focused on  resilience and renewal. The SBA will be hosting free, virtual events throughout the week for business owners to meet and get expert advice.
